Trained in general nursing and midwifery before Health Visitor training.

Worked as a Health visitor for about 14 yrs with experience of working with both a Geographic and a GP practice case load plus working as specialist 1) within a social services team and 2) with elderly.

In view of the current proposed changes in NHS, it may be of interest that, when I first practiced as a Health Visitor, I was a Local Govt Officer - as this was prior to Public Health moving to Local Health Authorities! (Wait long enough?)

Family Planning Nurse working in FP, Well Woman and Youth Advisory Clinics. (NAEDI – I suggest, bring these back?)

For the last 10 yrs before early retirement, I worked as a CNS in Palliative
Care – mostly as Nurse Director of a large community team providing 24hr cover but also as hospital based Macmillan Nurse.



Breast Cancer diagnosed and treated in 1997 with surgery and radiotherapy followed by mastectomy a year later because of post-radiotherapy problems. Then had endocrine therapy with 3+ yrs Tamoxifen and 6+ yrs Letrozole.
No further treatment and, so far, so good.

Most advocacy experience has been in relation to breast cancer but with interest in generic cancer issues.
Interest in Biobanking started before my cancer diagnosis and after the death of my only child aged two from a rare disease affecting liver and brain.

Interests/activities –Family/Friends, trying to play golf, NADFAS, D. Lloyd
Club, Vol at local arts centre, wine-tasting group, travel. (esp catamaran in Grenadines!)
