Jill Bartrop
I was diagnosed with an unknown primary cancer in 1999. I had surgery and chemotherapy for much of 2000. I try to manage by work life around my health needs.
My background is in Child and Adult protection work. I work as a qualified lipspeaker with the deaf community. I am also a member of South Yorkshire Police Authority. I became interested in cancer
research following my diagnosis. I am a patient member of the NCRNI breast cancer clinical sub group. I provide a patient perspective at local, regional and national levels.
In 2004 I was awarded the MBE for my work with the NHS in North Sheffield and for my involvement with the deaf community.
I am a founder member of the Independent Cancer Patient Voice whose role is to provide a genuine voice of the patient rather than one diluted through the charities professionals aims for their
organisations. Our group is set up to promote the patient views within the cancer research community.
